Having a Civil Conversation on Gun Control
A couple of weeks ago, an old friend from Airespace contacted me out of the blue. He proposed something quite interesting. He asked if I would participate in an experiment on his podcast. The experiment was to see if two friends on opposite sides of a highly emotional, divisive issue could have a civil conversation on that topic. The topic, as I gave it away in the blog title, is gun control.
My friend, Gene Yoon, is a very intelligent and articulate man. He also advocates for stronger gun control. I met him when he was our general counsel at Airespace. He provided invaluable legal advice. Gene was also a key person negotiating the acquisition of Airespace by Cisco. Lastly, but not least, he is also a really nice guy.
The conversation was, honestly, difficult for me. You will hear that for yourself. Holding a civil conversation, where you actually listen to the other person, consider their points and respond to those points, is hard work
Anyway, here is “Bob O’Hara, The Father of WiFi on … Gun Control?!” on the TechPoPo Podcast.
If you want to read some other things I have had to say on the topic of gun control, there is this post I wrote after the Newtown shooting.
