The IEEE 802.11 Handbook is a technical book describing the details of the 802.11 wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) standard. It is aimed at an engineering audience, primarily those that are involved in the development of Wi-Fi products. It is also useful to product managers, IT folks, and anyone else that wants to know some details of how Wi-Fi operates, without having to read thousands of pages of dense standards language.
I co-authored the Handbook with Al Petrick. He did the radio related chapters and I did the others. We also had Tim Godfrey write the chapter on 802.11e, the amendment that added support for quality of service to the standard.
