Bob O'Hara, President
Bob has worked in engineering and engineering management since 1978 when he graduated from the University of Maryland's Electrical Engineering program. He is actively involved in the development of networking, telecommunications and computing products.

Bob's areas of expertise are: network and communication protocols and their implementation, operating systems, system specification and integration, standards development, cryptography and its application, strategy development, and product definition. He is currently the technical editor of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 working group, developing the Wireless Local Area Network Medium Access and Physical Layer standards and chairman of the 802.11 revision task group.

He was Senior Member of the Technical Staff, one of the most senior engineering positions, in the Advanced Development Lab at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) in Sunnyvale, California. While at AMD, Bob was a member of the American National Standards Institute committee X3T9.5, responsible for the creation of the standards for the Fibre-Optic Data Distribution Interface (FDDI) network. Additionally, Bob is a member of the team that developed the Network Device Class Power Management Reference Specification for Microsoft. Prior to joining AMD, Bob was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers Mil-Std-1750A Instruction Set Architecture working group, creating a standard for military computers.

In addition, while at AMD, he was Manager of System Engineering and Product Planning for the I/O and Networks Division. In these positions, Bob created new network products, consulted with strategic customers to support their product development, drove industry consensus while creating international standards, and developed business and product strategy for network and computing products.

Bob has worked with customers including AT&T, IBM, Digital Equipment Corporation, Hewlett-Packard, Bay Networks, Sun Microsystems, Hughes Network Systems, COMSAT and Compaq.

Bob holds United States patent number 5,483,566; "Method and Apparatus for Modifying the Content of a Register via a Command Bit". Bob is a contributing author to Stephen Saunders' "Gigabit Ethernet Handbook", published in 1998 by McGraw-Hill.  Bob is also co-author of a book on the 802.11 wireless LAN, to be published by IEEE Press later in 1999.
